Grade 16
The 16s (opens) had a game at home on Friday night against Lennox Head. It had been 3 weeks since anyone in our team had played a game and for 2 of our players, 6 weeks! They were perhaps a little flat in the first half and when Lennox scored 3 goals in a five minute block to make the score 4 – 0 before half time their heads went a bit down. However the team put in a big effort in the second half to show their undeniable character and to give a much better indication of how they can play. The second half finished 2 – 2 so 6 – 2 in total. Good work between Zane & Kye saw them each score a goal and make an assist. Everyone worked hard and really put in especially in the second half. Well done all!
Grade 13 (South)
With the return of all players Ballina fielded its full squad winning out over Nimbin 7-1. With a wealth of talent we were spoilt for choice on who to play where. A good place to be for coaches when you have lots of options. There was plenty of great lead up work with many passing combinations leading to excellent goals. Well done team, looking forward to our Thistles match next week.
Grade 11 Ospreys
Talk about a nail biting finish this week. We went down 4-3 due to an unavoidable penalty kick. The entire team worked hard this week, proving to themselves that you can come back from behind if you just stick to the plan. Defence was again the highlight especially from Lachlan and Michael. Mitchell and Travis surprised themselves in goal despite some very obvious nerves. Awards this week go to Sam, for an amazing goal over the top and into the back of the net and to Taj for his ability to switch from attack to defence whenever he was needed. We didn’t get a report through last week so we also need to mention last week’s winners Michael and Lachlan for their massive defensive effort against Alstonville.
